Written by Lisa Horvath

Lisa Horvath is a Vienna-based artist working at the intersections of scenography, visual art, media art, performance and text. She studied Stage and Costume Design at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz, Applied Theatre Studies at Justus Liebig University Gießen, and Critical Studies at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna.

Her works create immersive environments that dissolve boundaries between installation and performance, stage and audience. Using media such as video, light, sound, and sensors, she is particularly known for her innovative use of inflatables in stage design, costumes, and installations. Her practice engages with feminism, ecology, posthumanism, and technology, integrating artistic work with philosophical and socio-political inquiry.

In 2013 she founded the ensemble Spielraum to develop her artistic projects, earning recognition such as the Outstanding Artist Award in 2015.
